My exploration of Witches, Witchcraft, Magick and associated arts. Originally this was "Witches of Pollok" which is a sell out presentation at Pollok House, Glasgow. Now I have several versions of this with history added for the areas of focus, ie Edinburgh, Perth, Aberdeen, London, Newcastle, Leicester, Carlisle etc. This is a one and a half hour presentation of talk, demonstrations, artefacts and performance.
Spirits of the Tenements
My Victorian/1900s demonstration on Fortune Telling and Spiritualism. I have presented this for the National Trust for Scotland for the last 4 years to full houses each time. This intriguing tale of Spiritualism, Gypsies with Royal Connections and Fortune Tellers and Mystics escaping persecution.
The Nightmare of Dr Jekyll
This is the creation tale of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic work of horror “The Curious case of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde”. The genesis of the novel includes nightmarish monsters, witches, Devil Worshippers, drug use, historical figures, Resurrection men, robbers and spiritualism.
Cara Hamilton peels back the skin of history to reveal the story and bring it to life with a mix of talk and performance. In truth it takes very little to turn your inner Doctor Jekyll into the callous Mr Hyde. Dare you witness or experience it for yourself?
The stage presentation where the spirit world meets the world of the Mindreader in Belle Epoque Paris, Weimar Berlin and Hoodoo soaked New Orleans. With the old and new world meeting over spirit slates, luminous dolls, dressed candles, crystal balls and magic mirrors, the mind boggles at what experiences will follow.
Cara is a very well respected reader of Tarot, Crystal Ball and Palm. She is also a newspaper Astrologer for a number of UK titles and a tea leaf an coffee ground reader.
Victorian Christmas Ghost Stories
In Victorian times storytellers who worked in the genre of horror and the macabre had 36 tales committed to memory. The audience would freely choose two cards from a Lenormand Fortune Telling pack, each card represents a tale. Upon the turn of each card that tale is told. This is presented with two tales separated by an intermission. Having started this at Pollok House in 2019. It was a complete sell-out and the audience gave it a five-star rating. 1hr 30 mins inc of 20 min break
This is a one hour "light" seance ie under low lights and red lights and depending on location may include some complete darkness. It involves audience participation. It is structured for those with an enquiring mind and willing to experiment. It is NOT aimed or designed to upset or scare any participant.
